REGENERATIVE FINANCE
FOR FOREST AND FOOD SYSTEM TRANSFORMATION
Vision
We envision a world where finance regenerates nature and empowers communities—driving the global shift to sustainable forest and food systems.
Mission
To unlock regenerative finance that accelerates the transition to sustainable forest and food systems worldwide, with a strong focus on developing countries and emerging markets. We invest in scalable technologies, support effective policies, and engage citizens—mobilising capital to restore nature, strengthen food security, and build resilient, inclusive communities.
OUR GLOBAL CHALLENGE.
The global food system is a major driver of environmental degradation—fueling deforestation, biodiversity loss, water scarcity, and pollution. It is directly responsible for 22% of global greenhouse gas emissions, rising to 34% when including land-use change, transport, and waste. But the crisis is not only ecological.
Across developing and emerging economies, the most vulnerable communities—particularly smallholder farmers, Indigenous peoples, and low-income groups—are bearing the greatest social and economic costs. They face climate shocks, land degradation, and food insecurity, often with limited resources to adapt.
Without transformative change, the food system will continue to deepen inequality and accelerate environmental breakdown—undermining the 2030 Agenda and the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
REGENERATIVE FINANCE AS A sustainble SOLUTION
Traditional finance often overlooks the long-term environmental and social impacts of investments, while policy-making lags behind, hindering the growth of innovative solutions and renewable energy. This is especially critical in emerging markets. To meet the Global Biodiversity Framework’s objectives, an estimated USD 200 billion per year in innovative financial solutions for nature is required.
RF4 is designed to unlock regenerative finance, driving a transformative shift in the forest and food economic systems, benefiting both the environment and the communities that depend on them.
